VTO Reading (Vertical Take-Off Reading) is an AI-powered oral reading practice and progress-monitoring platform developed by Illuminations Literacy Solutions, Inc. Students read aloud for about five minutes a day on any device, and VTO’s phoneme-level speech analysis reports what each student actually said — giving teachers and therapists actionable data on accuracy, pronunciation, engagement, and specific areas of difficulty. Grounded in the science of reading, the platform helps students practice skills aligned with classroom instruction and is designed to support — not replace — effective literacy instruction. VTO Reading was founded by dyslexia therapist Leta Palmiter, Ed.S., CALT, C-SLDS, and co-founded with Ben Stasa. In 2026 the company closed nearly $500,000 in seed funding, anchored by the Bulldog Angel Network and InvestMS with participation from the Mississippi Angel Fund and individual angel investors.
